  • MEMBERS PLAY AND COACH WELL ON WEEKEND

    Tom Sinclair, pictured. coached his junior girls squad to the championship at the Huntley Junior cashspiel on Sunday. Tom curls in the cash League. Another cash league player, Ben Miskew, was the second on the team that captured the men's side of the event.

  • CLUBMATES OFF TO THE MIXED NATIONALS

    Although they are listed as from the Rideau CC, the Ontario Provincial Mixed champions, Mark Homan, Rachel Homan, Brian Fleischhaker and Alison Kreviazuk also play at the Ottawa. We wish them luck as they battle in the Canadian Mixed beginning this weekend on November 12. The two curling clubs have a pool you can join to make the competition more interesting.

  • TWO MEMBERS WON BIG LAST SUNDAY

    Cash League members Lee Merklinger and Craig Savill helped their teams win big time on the weekend.

    Merklinger, second for Team Sherry Middaugh, helped defeat the OCC team of Jenn Hanna in the final of the Royal Lepage OVCA Women's fall Classic in Kemptville. This was their fourth spiel win this season.

    Savill as lead for Team Glenn Howard won the G&P Car and Home World Cup - the first of the season's Grand Slams. They defeated Team John Epping which had two former OCC members playing front end.

    Congratulations to Lee and Craig.

  • MANN HANDLES WHITBY SPIEL

    Three OCC members won the women's section of the Mount Lawn Gord Carroll Classic last weekend in Whitby. The team includes Lauren Mann, Patricia Hill and Jessica Barcauskas.

  • OTTAWA TEAM WINS THIRD BONSPIEL

    The team of Jenn Hanna, Pascale Letendre, Steph Hanna and Trish Scharf won their third bonspiel in Gatineau in the Challenge Casino Lac Leamy. They won $3,500. On the men's side Jean-Michel Menard took the crown. The Brian Lewis skipped team of Jeff McCrady, Steve Doty and Graham Sinclair claimed the Open section of the spiel. All play in the Cash League while Jenn, Steph and Trish compete in the Monday ladder as well.

  • MEMBERS DISTINGUISH THEMSELVES LAST WEEKEND

    Other winners on the weekend were: Melissa Gannon, Andrea Sinclair, Erin Walker and Rebecca Wicher-Schreur who won their way into November's JSI OVCA Junior Superpsiel. Another member Geordan Raganold played lead for his junior team that also qualified. Lynn Kreviazuk skipped her junior team to the top spot in the Brampton Junior Cashspiel.

  • OCC MEMBERS STUFF VICTORIES ON THANKGIVING WEEKEND

    Congratulations to Team Gardner for winning their second bonspiel of the season in Toronto at the StuSells Tankard. They won $9,500 through the efforts of skip Chris Gardner and third Don Bowser.

    Also congratulations to Team Jenn Hanna for their win at the Mac Ice Classic - Jenn Hanna, Pascale Letendre, Trish Scharf and Stef Hanna.

    Jean-Michel Menard won the men's section of the Mac Ice. Also kudos to RJ Johnson for playing third and winning the Open section of the same spiel.

    All of the above play in Wednesday Cash League while RJ skips in the Monday Night Ladder League.

  • THANKSGIVING HOURS

    We are open for Saturday Morning League October 8. The OCC is closed Sunday October 9 and Monday October 10. Should you need to access the club on Sunday, the Hogline Curlers Proshop is open until 6 p.m.

  • OCC GOLF SHIRTS AND JACKETS

    The sample OCC golf shirts and jackets are now in for you to try on at the Hogline Curlers Proshop. You have until October 28 to order.

  • PRACTICE ICE POLICY

    To give everyone a chance to practice members cannot book sheets of ice for the first 2 weeks of the season. The ice is allocated on a first come first served basis by you being at the Club.

    We also encourage members to share their sheet with others.

    There is no need to email the manager to book a sheet of ice because it is first come first served.

    Beginning Monday October 10 regular ice booking can be done on line with a confirmation email from the Manager.

    Remember the Manager is the ONLY PERSON who could allocate ice at ANY TIME.

  • BOARD APPOINTED AT AGM

    The OCC Board appointed at the AGM are Geoff Colley Jr., Paul Engelbrecht, Danny Lamoureux, Brian Corbett, Joe Pavia, Fred Barbieri, Donalee Anderson and Jan Ellis.

  • OCC JACKETS AND GOLF SHIRTS

    The Hogline Curlers Proshop willl be taking special orders for 60 days for new Ottawa Curling Club jackets and golf shirts.

    These are not a stock item at the shop so after trying on the sample sizes, should you want one or both garments, a $60 non-refundable deposit is required.

  • INITIAL PRACTICE ICE POLICY

    Once Mr. Wall gets the ice in member practice time will be on a first come first served basis to give as many members as possible a chance to practice.

    After that initial period we will revert to booking ice either on line with the Manager's confirmation email or booking the ice personally through the Manager.

    Ice booked through any other person but the Manager will have to be relinquished.

  • ON LINE SIGN UP

    Please remember to register on line..it is quick and easy and besides you have to anyway. The manager will do it for you if you don't have access to a computer. Here is where you do it.

  • OCC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

    The Ottawa Curling Club annual meeting is slated for Tuesday September 20 at 7:00 p.m.

    The Scotties provincial banner won by Team Homan, the Team Camm provincial junior banner and the Team Noble provincial masters banners are up now.

  • Curling Instructors Needed for Adult Learn to Curl Program!

    We are looking for instructors for our Getting Started in Curling program.  No coaching or instructing experience requried, just enthusiasm for curling and a desire to help others learn about the sport.

    Instructors should have experience playing multiple positions and have been curling for at least 5+ years.

    One team member must pay in full in order to hold the spot for the up coming season.
