The City of Ottawa with OSEG and the Ottawa Valley Curling Association (OVCA) are hosting outdoor curling at Lansdowne Park during Winterlude. The curling clubs have stepped up to provide volunteers for this event on each of the three weekends of Winterlude.

The Ottawa Curling Club is hosting on the first weekend (Jan 29 to 31) and the Rideau and RCN (Navy) Curling Clubs will host on the second and third weekends respectively. The curling sessions will be 4 hours on each of the days, from 4 to 8pm on Fridays and from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

This is a great opportunity for the OCC to show our true colours and promote the game to all who come to Winterlude. We will need volunteers to help with the basic curling instruction and program management and supervision during these times. All OCC members including our Getting Started curlers will have all the skills needed to help out on this great opportunity. The details are still being finalized so stay tuned for more information. We will have a sign up sheet in the lounge in early January.

Let's all have fun at Winterlude!

  • Toy Mountain Christmas Drive

Interested in helping a local family in need this Christmas, but unsure how to contribute? The OCC is making it easy for our generous curlers to support those less fortunate.

The Ottawa Region’s Toy Mountain campaign helps bring Christmas cheer to thousands of local children in need. Unfortunately, the Ottawa area is seeing increasing demand by families in need at Christmas and have seen shortages in toy donations in recent years.

This year, Toy Mountain aims to help 20,000 children in the Ottawa area. The greatest requirement is for toys for boys and girls ages 0-2 and 11-12. Drop off your new, unwrapped Christmas gifts under the club Christmas tree.

With every toy brought in, get entered into a draw for tickets to the 2016 Tim Horton’s Brier!

Any inquiries can be directed to Robyn at robyn.mattie@curling.ca. Toys will be collected under the tree up until December 15th, 2015.
